Water based painting – It is our preference to use water based paints for the benefit of our customers and the environment. Recent improvements in paint technology have led to environmentally friendly waterbased paints that have the durability, efficiency and finish of the oil based predecessors; but without harmful chemicals or a high V.O.C. count.

Recycling – Our policy is to recycle all protective material used in your home, so they do not end up in a landfill.

Charities

As you support our company we support the local community by donating to Oregon Charities.

Rebuild Center – The ReBuilding Center, a project of Our United Villages, is a vibrant resource working to strengthen the environmental, economic, and social fabric of local communities. Founded by volunteers in 1998, The ReBuilding Center carries the region’s largest volume of used building and remodeling materials. It provides resources that make home repairs affordable to everyone, with the goal of promoting the reuse of salvaged and reclaimed materials. Three hundred visitors come to The ReBuilding Center every day to browse the ever-changing inventory that includes sinks, tubs, tile, lumber, doors, windows, trim and much more.

Outside In – Outside In began in 1968, and we have continually revised our Homeless Youth Services and Medical Services to meet changing community needs. Our mission is to help homeless youth and other marginalized people move towards improved health and self-sufficiency.

Loaves & Fishes, Feed Seniors Project – The mission of Loaves & Fishes is to enrich the lives of seniors and assist them in maintaining independence by making nutritious food, social contacts, and other resources accessible. Testimonials

“I very much enjoyed working with Refinish First on my kitchen cabinet project. They were fun to work with and made the experience stress-free. They more than met my expectations. The work that they did was of top quality. I absolutely love my kitchen! They were respectful of my property and kept everything very clean. I would highly recommend them and look forward to working with them again! ” – laurieseifert

“The ability to work together with others, such as blending in with another company to work out the best schedule was done very successfully. The people were wonderful, & we feel like they are friends & offered information on other parts of the job to help us. For example, we suddenly realized needed someone who could remove wallpaper & they provided a name. Our floors were referred to us by the same people. We discovered a very small flooring company which was great. The whole experience was very positive. ” – bettygebbie2

“We worked with Refinish First on a high end residential kitchen. They did a beautiful job of restoring the custom cherry cabinets. They looked just like new when they were completed. Most contractors don’t want to restore and refinish cabinets, they just like to replace them. I was so happy to find Refinish First. We recommend them to our customers who want to refinish and update their cabinets but don’t really need all new cabinets. They can totally change the look of a worn, tired kitchen with new stain colors, new doors and hardware. Call them, you will be glad you did! ” – Patty Davis

“David & Claire just finished updating our cabinets and walls last week. They took a smelly, dingy, impossible to clean, 1951 kitchen with decades of peeling paint, doors that wouldn’t close or come clean, scary, cavernous, inefficient cabinets, and non-functioning, grimy drawers into a fresh, efficient, clean, fully functional space. We LOVE our kitchen now! We can’t stop looking at it. It feels totally new, much more functional, like we have more space in the existing footprint, and looks amazing!

They: replaced all the doors and drawer fronts; installed new hardware and Euro hinges; recommended and worked with the custom drawer builder to build and install new drawers and cabinet organizer; stripped and repainted the cabinet boxes; built and installed a tall, skinny custom book case next to the fridge; painted the walls and ceiling with minor plaster repair. The work took about ten days, much less money, time, and frustration than a total tear out. And, better use of resources by using what we already have in our existing footprint. Their part of the total project was about $6500, with the total project about $12,000. I highly, enthusiastically recommend Refinish First. They are personable, patient, helpful, courteous, hard-working, professional, knowledgeable, respectful, and responsive. I am thrilled with their results!” – Kim Silva DuBose

“Claire & David, of Refinish First were incredibly conscientious, meticulous, friendly, professional and took our 20 y/o cabinets and made them look better than new. Their service is very reasonably priced considering the dramatic impact their work had to the look of our kitchen. The work went as planned, on time, neater during the process than I expected and the results were outstanding. I would recommend them highly!” – Jonathan C.

“Great to work with…did what they promised. I would use them again. I am very satisfied with the results.” – Loree M. of Hillsboro, OR

“My home was on the market for 6 months when my realtor suggested having the cabinets painted and some other work done. Refinish First painted my cabinets, replaced the hardware, refinished the woodwork on the stairs and all kinds of little things that really updated my home. The kitchen sparkled and it sold within a month of being done. I would recommend them to anyone that has work to be done. Punctual, honest and fair.” – Connie M. of Beaverton, OR

“They were very exact on what I wanted, and made great suggestions. They had great detail on the detailed work. They informed me of what to expect and the kept to the schedule and budget.” – Virginia B.

“Refinish First came out to give me a bid on refacing our cupboards. Dave was refreshingly honest and recommended a restoration instead of refacing, which saved us thousands of dollars. I have found contractors in the past to recommend the more expensive option in order to maximize profits, Dave did not. Dave and Claire showed up early Monday morning ready to work. He was meticulous with everything he did. He spent a lot of of his time masking to protect our counters, floors, appliances, and the rest of our house from dust. He took such care in making sure every cupboard door and drawer match to perfection. I was amazed at how our kitchen cabinets looked when he was done. They looked new. He finished off the job by detailed cleaning of any dust and dirt. They even cleaned the windows! He thought of every detail, including applying protective cushions to every door and drawer, which I did not expect. He also refinished our window sills to look new again. Dave. Claire and their employees are not only exceptional at what they do, they are extremely professional, accommodating and friendly. When they were finished, I missed seeing their smiling faces in the morning. I look forward to seeing them again in a few days to complete additional work in our laundry room and bathrooms. I give them the highest recommendation, which means a lot as I am know to be somewhat particular.” – Joanne C. of Tualatin, OR
